Preventing plastic-to-microplastic pollution at source — PREserwe’s Chakravyuh and Abhimanyu systems intercept and safely remove waste inside sewers, ensuring clean rivers and eliminating the risks of manual scavenging.
The Problem
India’s sewer and water systems reveal a hidden crisis that affects both people and the planet:
- Low efficiency of current systems
- Plastic turning into microplastic

The Solution
PREserwe’s innovations tackle the issue at its root — inside the sewer itself — through a two-part integrated system:
- Chakravyuh — a modular chamber installed in sewer lines to intercept and segregate solids before they reach rivers or treatment plants. Available in Basic and Advanced models, Chakravyuh can both capture solid waste and treat wastewater across multiple parameters.
- Abhimanyu — a robotic, vehicle-mounted scavenger with a foldable conveyor arm, rotator, jetter, and sucker. It removes and segregates the captured solids without human entry, repurposing them into recyclables or compost while safeguarding workers’ dignity.
- System integration — Chakravyuh collects and holds solids in modular drawers or swappable units; Abhimanyu removes and segregates the waste into usable streams, forming a closed-loop, labour-safe, and scalable system.
Impact
Technical Validation
- Chakravyuh has reached TRL 5, IRL 6, and MRL 7, representing a validated prototype with strong innovation maturity and advanced manufacturability readiness.
- Abhimanyu has progressed to TRL 4, IRL 5, and MRL 6, with lab validation completed and manufacturing pathways under development.
- Developed 12 prototypes, 23 design drafts, and 3 research reports, showcasing continuous design improvement and technical feasibility.
